One of my favorite scriptures is Isaiah 40:31.
But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.
This verse teaches us the power of waiting on God. We believe that something is going to happen, so we wait in expectation until God does something amazing. We are waiting and we are ready.
While preparing to write my blog this morning, I couldn’t help but turn things around a bit and ask this question.
Am I waiting on God or is God waiting on me?
Have you asked that question? Is it possible that instead of us waiting on God to do something amazing, He is actually waiting on us to take a step of faith? Maybe the wait is over for us and now God is the one waiting. I understand it is God that give us the power to do great things, but sometimes we have to make the first move.
Yes, God helped David defeat Goliath, but he still went searching for 5 stones. He didn’t just hear about Goliath and then do nothing…he did everything that he knew to do and then went to face that giant. God knew there was a great giant that needed to be destroyed and He waited for someone with enough faith to step up and make the first move.
God told Abraham that He would bless him beyond measure, but He told him he would have to leave his homeland for this to happen. Once God spoke that to him…God waited. The blessings did not come until Abraham made a move. That means, Abraham wasn’t waiting on God, but God was waiting on him.
I can share many examples and stories in the Bible of men and women that God waited on, but what about your story? Is it possible that while you’ve been waiting on God, He is actually waiting on you? Oh, I know you can’t do it without Him, but maybe He’s waiting for you to make the first move. God responds to faith, but we activate it. Yes you’re going to need Him to help you, but He’s going to need you to commit to a level of trust.
Is it something in your ministry that God is waiting on? Maybe He is waiting on you to make a move in your job, then He’s going to bless you. Make a step in the direction of your passion and watch what God does. He knows you need Him, but right now He needs you to take that leap. He’s not asking you to do this alone, He’s just waiting on you to pick out 5 smooth stones and start walking toward the battle.
After you read this blog, take some time and reevaluate your dreams and desires. Determine what you believe is the Will of God for your life, then get ready to move. Whatever is keeping you from taking that first step is also keeping you from everything that God has promised in your life. Just remember, you’re not waiting on God, He is waiting on you.
Wonderful blog this morning, and so true!!!
