“THE WILLINGNESS OF A LEADER”

I am currently doing some leadership training with several outstanding individuals. Leadership is one of my favorite subjects, and I love seeing people grow into great leaders. I believe it’s important that we place them in the right positions where they can make the biggest impact. The leadership journey must start with a willing heart. It doesn’t take long to separate the ones that have the heart for it, and the ones that are seeking a position. When a leader has a willing heart to do whatever it takes to grow, there is no limit to where he or she goes.

The important thing for a leader to learn is how to be willing, but also how to ask for help. You can get used to doing so many things, that it becomes a pattern.

Remember this:

  • A LEADER MUST BE WILLING TO DO ANYTHING, BUT NOT EXPECTED TO DO EVERYTHING

Yes, we need leaders who are willing, but we also need people who will join in and help meet the needs we face as a church or organization. If you’re not careful, people will take advantage of your willingness, and when that happens, it’s easy for a leader to become burnt-out and potentially bitter. Let me encourage every leader to continue to grow in your willingness, but as you journey, find where you are the most effective, and give it everything you’ve got.
