Have you ever asked yourself, “Am I In The Will Of God?” I know I certainly have. I’ve faced times when I knew something was getting ready to change in my life and ministry, I just didn’t know when. I’m sure like me, you’ve been faced with a decision that you weren’t sure if it was the Will of God. Don’t you wish God would open up the sky and with a loud and clear voice, tell you what He wants you to do? Well, it doesn’t work that way. Sometimes it takes weeks, months and even years to fulfill the Will of God in your life.
I’ve counseled many people on this subject, even ministers that were praying about a very important move in their lives. It can be one of the most frustrating places of your life, especially when it involves your ministry. You begin to weigh out the positives and negatives of what everything will be. You try to envision how the change will affect you and your family. Should I take the risk or should I just remain where I am right now? Oh the questions that you ask yourself and some you just don’t have answers for.
If you are currently in a situation like this, I’m sure I have your attention. Let me go ahead and tell you that I don’t know what you’re suppose to do and I don’t have some mysterious formula to give you so you can figure it out. Your answer will come through prayer, fasting and Godly council. You can’t get around those three elements in any major move in your life.
- Seek God through prayer.
- Conquer your flesh through fasting, so it doesn’t get in the way of your decision making.
- Make sure someone you trust is speaking into your life. There is safety in a multitude of counsel. Proverbs 24:6
What I would like to do is clear up some confusion about where you are currently. Though this can be a very frustrating time in your life, I would like to share something positive about where you are.
We all want to be in the Will of God. One minister I talked with began to share with me how hard it was for him to figure out what the Will of God was in a decision he was getting ready to make. What I told him is what I want to share with you. He was currently preaching revivals and being a blessing to many people. I looked at him and said, “I don’t know what the Will of God is for your future, but I do know that if you are doing the WORK of God, then your are in the WILL of God. The Lord in time will show you exactly where He wants you to be, but be confident that you are in His Will now.
No matter what you’re praying for and it doesn’t even matter how big the decision is, if you are WORKING for God, then you are living in the WILL of God. Don’t get in a hurry, just remain faithful in what you are doing and let God reveal the path He wants you to take. Don’t get so caught up in the future that you neglect what you need to be doing now. Part of your transition is in how well you complete what you’re doing for God in the present.
If you’re doing the WORK of God, then you are in the WILL of God. Please don’t forget that simple statement. God will order your steps and He will let you know what to do and when to do it. Remember, you’re not praying about being in the Will of God, because if you’re working for Him, in whatever capacity, you’re already in His Will. KEEP CALM and just keep doing the WORK of God and in time, you will move into another phase of the WILL of God.
This has been a vital part of my life in those times when I didn’t yet know where I was being positioned to go, but I knew a new door was opening.
