For many of us, this is the day we get up and start getting ready for Sunday church. We’re excited about worshiping God and having fellowship with our Christian Brothers and Sisters. For some of us, we’re not just going to be in service, but we are a part of serving at our church. All kinds of volunteers will show their love for God and for working in their community by simply going to church today.
However, there are a lot of people that for whatever reason, they just don’t go to church. They may have never gone and therefore don’t see the need in putting it in their schedule. For them, it’s about recreation and fun on their day off from work. They just don’t understand how important church really is.
But there is another group of people that may not be going to church today. They use to go all the time and they were even involved with many activities. I don’t know what it was, but obviously, something happened and they no longer go. They can most likely tell you exactly what transpired that caused them to stop attending church.
If you are one of those people, I am praying for you this morning. Maybe someone hurt you deeply and you’re just not over the pain emotionally. Perhaps someone in leadership let you down and you just don’t trust leaders anymore. However, it could also be you. Maybe you’re the reason you haven’t gone back to church. You messed up and you’re ashamed to step back in the doors. You don’t feel worthy to come back and you also feel like you have let everyone down.
Can I just tell you this morning, that the enemy is using these things against you to keep you away from the presence of God. Nothing, or no one is worth risking your soul and salvation for. The church is not perfect and neither is its members, but it is the place where God’s Word is taught and also where His Spirit dwells.
Yes, you can stay home, go online and hear a message, but there is nothing like being in the atmosphere of a live church service. You also need the fellowship of your brothers and sisters and they need you too. I’m encouraging you today to let the past be the past and make up your mind to go back to church. No matter what the reasons have been before, let them go and choose to be in the house of the Lord today. I promise you, that you’ll be glad you did.
Psalm 122King James Version (KJV)
122 I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.
