One of the greatest things about God is His faithfulness. His Word declares His faithfulness and Psalms 138:2 says, ” I will worship toward Your holy temple, and praise Your name for Your lovingkindness and Your truth; For You have magnified Your word above all Your name”.
If He said it, then it is going to happen and you can believe it. Whatever has been established by His Word, will be carried out. From the rising of the sun, until it’s going down, is just a small reminder of how consistent and faithful our God is.
Even when we are not faithful to God, He is still faithful to us.
2 Timothy 2:13 (NKJV) If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.
Think of how amazing that is! He is so committed to His Word, that even in times when we fail to be faithful to Him, it does not stop His faithfulness to us. You may fail Him, but He will never fail you. You may let Him down, but He will never let you down, because He is faithful.
As a pastor, the only thing that I would like to add, is I believe God’s faithfulness should inspire our faithfulness. I’m not expecting people to be perfect, but as they grow in the knowledge of God, it should cause them to want to be more like Him and nothing is more like God than faithfulness.
After leading people for more than twenty years, my number one frustration is people’s lack of faithfulness and the excuses they use to justify it. I simply stand amazed at how easy some people can be persuaded out of being faithful. I’m probably a little old school, but there are just some things that are non-negotiable in being a disciple of Jesus. I’m not claiming that I don’t fail and make mistakes, but there are just some things I’ve determined in my life to be faithful in and nothing is going to stand in my way.
When you are faithful to the things of God, you will experience His blessings. You will also grow in the knowledge of who He is. Another great thing will happen…you will have a testimony of faithfulness that you can share with others. You can use your voice to encourage others that may be going through a difficult time. Let them know the blessings in faithfulness and that it’s worth fighting for.
I can promise you this…God will be faithful to you today…will you be faithful to Him? Whatever you are struggling with currently, if it causes you to compromise your faithfulness to God…IT’S NOT WORTH IT!!! It doesn’t matter if it’s a job or a relationship, nothing is worth losing your testimony of faithfulness.
When it’s all said and done, there is one main thing God will look for in all of us.
Matthew 25:21 (NKJV)
‘Well done, good and FAITHFUL servant; you were FAITHFUL over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord.’
