“BLESS AND MAGNIFY”

Psalms 34:1-3 (ESV)
1 I will bless the LORD at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My soul makes its boast in the LORD;
let the humble hear and be glad.
3 Oh, magnify the LORD with me,
and let us exalt his name together!

Two words stood out to me in my morning devotion. Bless and Magnify.

The word BLESS means to praise.
The word MAGNIFY means to increase.

Every Psalm of David was written about a personal experience in his life, so whatever he was facing in this one, he determined to do two things; BLESS and MAGNIFY GOD. Instead of focusing on the problem, he was concentrating on PRAISING AND INCREASING GOD.

We know how to PRAISE GOD, but how do you MAGNIFY or INCREASE a God that is omnipresent? The truth is, David wasn’t making God any bigger, but through his PRAISE he was increasing God in his perception. Isn’t it interesting that before he could MAGNIFY Him, he first PRAISED Him? There is something about PRAISE that will cause you to see God larger than ever before.

My Dad would say when you MAGNIFY GOD; you are making Him bigger than whatever your problem is.

So if you’re going through a difficult time, I want to encourage you to focus on two things today, BLESS AND MAGNIFY GOD!!! PRAISE HIM and INCREASE HIM, so He is larger than the mountain in your way.
